BIOGRAPHY

"When I began my musical career, my dad's bit of wisdom, “Happy are they that dream dreams and are willing to pay the price to see them come true," is what I started with. My dad also gave me a little scrap of paper I still carry with me to this day. It simply reads, “Entertainment”. He told me to put it in my wallet as a reminder. "Entertain the people son. That's what it's all about", I continue to pursue that goal.
My debut album, Big Dreams and Empty Pockets is the culmination of the journey I began when I first went to Nashville. I’ve worked the road crews of several Nashville stars, including Trisha Yearwood, Lorrie Morgan, and Ricky Skaggs, as well as working my share of small venues, and American Legion halls.
The songs on my new CD are inspired
from my own real life experiences.
The title track “Big Dreams and
Empty Pockets” tells the story,
in a whimsical way, of my struggle
to succeed and accomplish those
big dreams. “Every Time We Throw
Dirt We Lose Ground” has a message
that millions of couples can say
'Amen' to as they realize the
damaging effects of speaking before
thinking. “That's My Mom” is an
anthem to Mothers everywhere.
As a writer and artist, my desire
is to take raw emotions and weave
them together to create music
that everyone can identify with."

SUNDAY DRIVE

Earl Douglas - Lead Guitar, BG Vocals
Shredding lead guitarist for the Sunday Drive first picked up his sister’s guitar at age fifteen and taught himself by playing until as he describes it, “his fingers were bloody.” At age seventeen, he moved to Texas where he played in several bands and established himself as more than a garage band musician. In fact, Doug has been a studio session player as well as being the chosen guitarist for a number of producers. Doug has organized several bands himself and has found leading worship as one of his life’s callings. He is never more at home than when he is urging believers o go beyond the normal bounds of expression and really touch the face of God in their corporate worship experiences. Doug has recently been working with Australian worship leader Joe Vogels in worship seminars. Doug is also a successful businessman in the Dayton, Ohio area and enjoys spending time with his family in a number of activities.
Jack Walling - Bass, BG Vocals
Bass player for the Sunday Drive has a bluegrass pedigree that was the catalyst for launching his music career. His father was a bluegrass mandolin player and had musicians jamming at his house most days and evenings. This atmosphere spawned Jack’s interest in playing the mandolin himself. Jack’s father once told him if he could learn to play one song on the mandolin, his father would buy Jack his own instrument. At the end of only one week, Jack could play everything his father could play. Needless to say, Jack’s father bought him that mandolin. What Jack really wanted was a guitar but what began was an interest in not only bluegrass music but also country and rock and roll. Jack enjoys building custom guitars and riding his motorcycle on the many beautiful days that southwest Ohio can provide.
Mick Scott - Drummer, BG Vocals
Mick Scott, the Sunday Drive’s prolific drummer, is an all around musician playing bass, guitar, key boards and, of course, the drums. Having written a number of songs himself, Mick credits such artists as Vinnie Paul, Scott Rokenfield, and Tommy Lee as being his biggest musical influences. Mick loves all genres of music with a special love of country and jazz. He is not afraid of tearing apart anything with an engine (and making it go fast) and his love of classic cars and bikes is evidenced by the menagerie of cars and motorcycles you can find in his driveway and garage at any time. Mick and his wife Amy love traveling the southeast portion of the nation and have developed an appreciation of the diversity of various cultures. Mick uses Zildjian cymbals, Gibraltar and Tama Iron Cobra hardware, DW drums and has his very own signature series drum sticks available only at www.xceldrumsticks.com
Mike Duty - Keys
The keys guy for the Sunday Drive, is affectionately known as “Pops” to the rest of the band. He is husband, father, and grandfather, and is the son of a preacher. In fact, Mike worked for years in a faith-based vocation himself. Dale has said “Mike is one of the best keyboard players he has ever heard.” Mike attributes his God given talent to his parents who “whuppped the stuffing out of him” if he didn’t practice. Mike and his wife Cara enjoy movies, traveling, golf, and their favorite band Little Feat. Mike leads a neighborhood bible study and loves all of the technology that allows him o play the finest sampled pianos in the world from his computer. Mike has played keys for over fifty years and has traveled with well-known gospel legends Doug Oldham and Bill Gaither.
